Deep Purple & Judas Priest Rock the Toyota Amphitheater

Sunday, September 30

10 days after a special day, I was able to see JUDAS PRIEST and DEEP PURPLE just north of Sacramento IN Wheatland for the final date of their US Tour. Being a lifelong fan, all I can say is totally fucking incredible!

Priest took the stage with Firepower and dominated with 15 songs including a personal favorite of mine, Desert Plains in which I performed years ago in my first band. No stone was left unturned and The Metal God was in top form and the crowd wishes they had another 10 songs.

Set change and Deep Purple hit hard with Highway Star and proceed for a 13-song set filled with Ian Paice pounding the kit, Roger Glover walking the bass, Don Airey tickling the ivories, Steve Morse doing what he does extremely well, and Ian Gillan proving his influence on the younger generation. Their set which felt very ‘jam’ oriented with visual cues reminded me again of why I love music so much!

Thanks to Chipster and LiveNation - we appreciate you!
