Tuesday, May 5th, 2020 - In the face of Coronavirus adversity, California post-hardcore outfit, Dance Gavin Dance have once again shown their undeniable popularity and continuous upward trajectory as their ninth studio album, Afterburner (out now on Rise Records) has soared straight to the top of the charts hitting #1 across the Current Album, Alternative, Digital, Rock and Heavy Rock charts and #14 on the Billboard Top 200.

This is a hugely impressive feat regardless but is made even more so by the fact that 'Afterburner' was only released digitally with no physical release to count towards the week 1 numbers. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down manufacturing, it became apparent that the physical copies of the album would not be ready for planned release date. Dance Gavin Dance were faced with the difficult decision of either pushing back the release to include the sizeable physical pre-orders and anticipated sales in week one or go ahead with the planned release date but only available digitally, therefore forfeiting the physical sales that would contribute to their week 1 chart success.

The band chose their fans over the chart position and decided to go ahead with the planned release date and a digital only album release. It was a gamble, but it has paid off as today the band celebrate another hugely successful release. Full week 1 chart positions below
